COCKTAILS, SHOES AND HEROES: INGREDIENTS FOR THE PERFECT AWARDS CEREMONY

Atlanta, GA (January 25, 2011) - Attendees of the 3rd Annual CHOZEN AWARDS are in for a treat. This year’s CHOZEN AWARDS (CA) will combine goodwill, great shoes and outstanding partnerships, leading up to the annual awards ceremony and cocktail reception at Blue Mark Studios (892 Jefferson St NW, Atlanta, GA 30318). The highly anticipated cocktail reception, on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at 7:30 p.m., will see the return the “Gold Carpet” to be streamed live online, and hosted by lifestyle blogger, and previous CA recipient, Tammie Reed, of Talking with Tami. The cocktail reception serves as a precursor to an evening honoring community activists, tastemakers and other notable individuals who contribute to the diverse fabric of the city of Atlanta. In conjunction with shining the light on those who are usually behind the scenes, the CA committee continues its tradition of social awareness by teaming up with one of Atlanta’s foremost charitable organizations. This year’s event series is dedicated to supporting 40 Girls and Some Shoes (http://www.40girlsandsomeshoes.org), a non-profit organization designed to provide shoes for those that need it most, the homeless of metro Atlanta.

“Over the past few years I have worked very hard to raise awareness about 40 Girls and Some Shoes and our mission to aid those in need,” says Sylvia Webb, founder of 40 Girls and Some Shoes. “My desire is to constantly increase the reach of my organization and make an impact in as many lives as possible. The opportunity to partner with the CHOZEN AWARDS will undoubtedly aid that goal.”

According to the Metro Atlanta Task Force for the Homeless, Atlanta is the poorest city in the U.S. for children, as more children in Atlanta live in poverty than in any other city. They also report that, 48% of all the children in Atlanta in poverty live in families with annual incomes of less than $15,000 a year.

“The partnership between CHOZEN AWARDS and 40 Girls and Some Shoes brings awareness to the community,” says Panama Ibarguen, publisher of RealAtlanta.com. “It shows the rest of Atlanta that we can make a difference and it doesn't take much to help. We must come together as a community and reach out to those that need help and bring awareness to the homelessness issue we have in Atlanta.”

Gently worn footwear of all types can be donated at Blue Mark Studios until March 30, 2011. The CHOZEN AWARDS organization and 40 Girls and Some Shoes are looking forward to receiving donations of at least 1,000 pairs of shoes. These shoes will not only allow someone to walk through the city, they will also demonstrate to the individuals in need that there is a community that cares about their well-being.

Joining in the effort to help combat homeless, while recognizing hardworking individuals in metro Atlanta, are Angel of Love Events, Artist Trifecta, Futuristic Branding, Real Atlanta Magazine, ROUTE TV, Sadiddy Magazine, The Style Suite, Think Broccoli, LLC., Word of Mouth ATL, The Glambar Salon, Bang! Catering and JBloom Productions.

About 40 Girls and Some Shoes
40 Girls and Some Shoes is a Georgia based charity outreach program servicing the homeless and impoverished citizens of the City of Atlanta and its surrounding communities. Founded by Sylvia Webb, the organization's primary mission is the collection and distribution of new and gently worn shoes for men, women and children, provided by its generous supporters. Through a vast network of partnerships and associations formed over the past three years, 40 Girls and Some Shoes has distributed 4000 pairs of free shoes to these underserved groups. These endeavors are accomplished by a number of shoe drives, charity events that assemble civic leaders, allied organizations dealing with homeless, and individuals committed to supporting this cause.

About CHOZEN AWARDS In 2008, CHOZEN MEDIA, a trend-setting, Atlanta-based multimedia company, and Just BE, an Atlanta-based public relations agency, launched the CHOZEN AWARDS with a vision to inspire, impact and empower the metro Atlanta community in honor of the unsung heroes who make this city so great. Nominees are selected in 16 categories in the areas of business, entertainment, health, hospitality and the arts and are voted on by the public. This year the awards event series welcomes the addition of OPERATION CHOZEN, a 31-day community service initiative, CHOZEN to be Green, the sustainability and environmental awareness affair and the “Salute to Women” Brunch, in honor of Women’s History Month.
